2027 Impression 36BR3 Review

Three-bedroom fifth wheels usually mean one thing: a set of bunks crammed into a back corner with just enough headroom for a nine-year-old and not much else. The 2027 Impression 36BR3 takes a different swing at it. The back room isn’t bunks. It’s a shared lounge with a bed platform on each side, a TV for each kid, real heat ducting, its own A/C, hanging closets, privacy curtains and enough square footage that nobody’s crawling over anybody.

I toured this one last year when it debuted and the video took off, so a lot of you have been asking me to circle back on it. Here’s the honest read on where it wins and where you need to pay attention before you sign.

What I Liked

The back room is genuinely different. Most three-bedroom floorplans give kids a coffin. This gives them a room. Two bed platforms facing each other, a TV on each side, storage underneath, a hanging closet, privacy curtains, a nightlight, and — this is the part people miss — heat ducting and a dedicated A/C vent back there. Plenty of bunkhouses are freezing in October and roasting in July because nobody ran ductwork that far back. This one did.

The 60K on-demand water heater. Most units in this segment come with a 45K. Impression went to 60K, which is the same setup you’ll find on 45-foot destination units. Practical translation: three showers back to back without anyone drawing the short straw.

Portable Bluetooth soundbars instead of anchored speakers. Two of them, linkable, and they come off the wall. Take them to the fire pit, take them to the beach, stow them for travel. Small thing, but it’s the kind of decision that tells you somebody who actually camps was in the room.

The kitchen punches above its price. Dishwasher, deep single-bowl task sink with the full accessory set, high-rise pull-down faucet, floor-to-ceiling pantry, skylight over the counter, and a 21″ glass recessed range. The counter is deep enough for a full-size dinner plate, which sounds obvious until you’ve measured a few that aren’t.

Dual awnings at 14′ and 20′. Two shaded zones instead of one long strip, which matters when you’ve got an outside kitchen on one end and chairs on the other.

Versa-Tilt bed with flip-up nightstands. The incliner is standard, and the flip-up counters with outlets on both sides give you a place to charge a phone without a cord running across the mattress.

What To Watch For

Cargo capacity is the real conversation. 2,367 pounds of CCC on a rig designed to sleep a whole family. Fill the 57-gallon fresh tank and you’ve spent roughly 473 of those pounds before a single suitcase goes in. Add a generator, bikes, a full pantry, tools and six people’s gear and you will find the ceiling faster than you think. This isn’t a knock on Impression specifically — it’s the math on most family fifth wheels — but you need to know it going in, and you need to weigh your actual loaded unit on a CAT scale.

The 30-gallon black tank. Sixty gallons of gray, thirty of black. For a couple that’s fine. For six people, that black tank is your limiting factor and you’ll be watching it closely on anything but full hookups.

The third A/C is an option, not standard. The second 15K ducted unit is mandatory on this floorplan, but the third is an add. If you’re camping Texas, Florida or Arizona in summer with a full house, budget for it. Ordering it from the factory is cleaner than adding it later.

Bunk mattresses are thin. They’re better than the floor, but they’re not something a growing teenager is going to be thrilled with on night forty. Plan on foam toppers. Cheap fix, but factor it in.

The backsplash is wallpaper, not tile. This is where Impression saves money to hold the price point, and I’ll be straight — it looks good. But know what you’re buying so you’re not surprised when you get up close.

Verify the tire warranty program terms. There’s a warranty attached to the tires, and like most of these programs the fine print matters more than the headline. Ask your dealer to show you the actual coverage document before you assume anything.

Length and height. 41’10” and 13’1″ tall. Check your campground reservations for length limits — plenty of state parks cap out below this — and know your clearances before you route.

Pin weight is 2,155 lb dry. Loaded, it goes up. Run your truck’s payload sticker, not the brochure number, and be honest about whether you’re bringing a hitch, passengers and a full tank of fuel into that equation.

Who This RV Is For

Families with three or more kids who need real separation at bedtime. The back room isn’t an afterthought and it isn’t shared with the living space, which means the adults get their evening back.

Multi-generational travelers — grandparents in the front, kids in the back, everybody with a door and a curtain between them.

Work crews. I said it in the video and I meant it: two people per side, each with a bed, storage, a closet and a TV, plus a washer/dryer prep and a dishwasher. For a traveling crew that’s a legitimately efficient setup.

Buyers who want the quality-to-price crossover. Impression sits at the point where you get real features without paying for imported cabinetry and badge premium. If you’re shopping value and features per dollar, this is your neighborhood.

Who Should Skip It

Couples. You’re towing 41 feet and paying for a room you’ll use for storage. There are better couples floorplans in this same brand.

Serious boondockers. 57 gallons of fresh, 30 of black, 200 watts of solar standard and a tight CCC. You can expand solar to 500 watts, but the tanks are the tanks. This unit wants a campground with hookups.

Anyone at the edge of a 3/4-ton truck’s payload. Between the pin weight and the cargo you’ll want to carry, run the numbers carefully. A lot of people in this floorplan end up in a one-ton.

Buyers who want premium finishes. Wallpaper backsplash, lumbercore cabinetry, residential-style linoleum. It’s well executed for the money, but if you want solid wood and real tile, you’re shopping a different tier and a different price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people does the 2027 Impression 36BR3 sleep?
Between the front bedroom, the tri-fold hide-a-bed in the living area and the two bed platforms in the rear room, you’re comfortably in the eight-person range depending on how you use the back space and how big everybody is.

What truck do I need to tow it?
Dry pin weight is 2,155 lb and dry weight is 11,788 lb, but you never tow dry. Loaded, plan on a well-equipped 3/4-ton at minimum and understand that many owners of this floorplan end up in a one-ton dually for the payload headroom. Check your truck’s door sticker, not the marketing number.

Does it come with a dishwasher and washer/dryer?
The dishwasher plus washer and dryer come through the Diamond Package, which is mandatory on select models. Confirm with your dealer that the specific unit on the lot is equipped, since package content can shift during a model year.

How many air conditioners does it have?
An 18,000 BTU Chill Cube plus a second 15,000 BTU ducted unit that’s mandatory on this floorplan. A third 15,000 BTU ducted unit is available as an option and is worth it if you camp in the South.

Is the rear room actually usable for adults?
The platforms are sized for kids and the mattresses are thin, so it’s not where you’d put a grown adult for a two-week trip. For a work crew or teenagers, yes — with a mattress topper.

Can I add more solar?
Yes. All Impressions come with 200 watts on the roof and a 30-amp controller, with side prep in place. You can build up to roughly 500 watts without fighting the factory wiring.
